易混淆的英语单词用法:Vice 和 Vise 的区别,简单英语单词记忆法

在美式英语中vice 和 vise是不一样的。Vice指道德堕落,vise指的是老虎钳(一种工具)。然而,英式英语中vice 和 vise并没有什么区别,vice可以指的道德堕落,也可以指工具。

Vice 和 Vise 的定义


Vice,名词,意味着不道德的或不良的做法。用作头衔时指替代/代替他人行事的人,如vice president副总统。Vice versa是反之亦然的意思。

在美式英语中,名词vise指钳子类的工具。

Vise作为一个动词时意味着像用虎钳去钳一样强行执行、握住或挤压。而在英式英语中vice就包含了以上两个意思。——简单英语单词记忆法: 把s从上至下压缩后就可以钳住东西了!
